Phil Scherrer from the Solar Group at Stanford has kindly stepped in at the last minute to be our lecturer for the September meeting. Phil has been studying the Sun for many years, and currently is the Principal Investigator of the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager team for the Solar Dynamics Observatory satellite, which will launch next year.

Phil will be talking about Helioseismology, the study of solar pressure waves, and what we've learned about the Sun from our observations of those waves.
