Excellent seeing on 23 October 2005 resulted in my best Mars images to date. Based on the excellent suggestion of John Horvath, the movie cycles forward and backward to more easily follow features of interest. I used the map of Martian surface features on p. 67 of the September 2005 issue of Sky & Telescope as a reference to identify features in the still below. All images processed in RegiStax 3, in which the gradient quality operator seems to have worked better than the standard option. Mars Opposition 2003 movies and images are available.
